At the time, the largest wind farm in the history of VSB Group

The 14th of November 2013 marked the opening of the largest single project in VSB's company history, near the Polish town of Legnica in Lower Silesia. The wind farm, directly adjacent to the A4 motorway, was installed by VSB Poland in a record-breaking eleven months. Altogether, 22 wind turbines supply 25.000 households with environmentally friendly electricity.

New opportunities for the sale of electricity on the market

In 2019-2024, the VSB Group supported Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland's strategic investment in ecological production without CO2 emissions. The car company supplied its first engine manufacturing plant entirely with electricity from renewable sources. The long-term electricity supply agreement (Power Purchase Agreement/PPA) is the first to be concluded between industry and the wind farm sector in Poland.

The Wind Farm of Taczalin is the energy supplier located approximately 10 kilometres from the plant and connected to the local distribution network. The supply of electricity to the plant producing four-cylinder engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars with electricity coming directly from the wind park was made possible by the Polish system for promoting energy from renewable sources. It allows the manufacturer to sell its energy on the free market or based on PPA contracts – an agreement to purchase energy from a specific renewable energy source. PPA structures are increasingly used throughout Europe and internationally as a market instrument for wind energy producers. They are concluded with large electricity consumers and provide for long-term electricity receipt at an agreed price. The electricity consumer is thus protected against rising energy prices, while the supplier of green electricity achieves stable revenues in the long term.
