VSB sells wind turbine to the Dörentrup-Wendlinghausen citizens’ energy cooperative

The clean energy transition has arrived in Wendlinghausen: the wind turbine planned and built jointly by the project developer VSB Neue Energien Deutschland GmbH and the Dörentrup-Wendlinghausen citizens’ energy cooperative (BEG) was sold to the BEG on 31 March 2023.

In operation since the end of July 2022, the wind turbine in the Wendlinghausen district has an installed capacity of 3.6 megawatts. That is enough to power around 3,600 households with green electricity. At the same time, up to 6,000 tonnes of harmful CO2 will be saved each year.

It was important for this project that the citizens of the greater Dörentrup area and the district of Lippe had the opportunity to participate financially in the plant. The offer was very popular locally: the necessary capital was successfully raised and the BEG is now the sole owner of the wind turbine, as intended from the outset.

BEG board member Manfred Meyer-Gattermann is very pleased with the project. “The climate-friendly, independent organisation of our energy supply is in our hands. VSB proved to be an experienced, transparent and fair partner during the planning, financing and construction of the wind turbine.”

Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of the company VSB Neue Energien Deutschland GmbH, adds: “It was a matter close to our hearts to be a part of the BEG’s commitment to this project. Together we have succeeded in generating an attractive local value chain, creating value for the next generation and introducing a well-received form of participation.”
