Project developer VSB is pleased to announce the full commissioning of the Vockenrod wind farm. The project in the municipality of Antrifttal in the Vogelsbergkreis district of Middle Hesse comprises three Nordex N149-5.X wind turbines with a total rated output of 17.1 megawatts (MW). At the same time, successful participation in the Federal Network Agency’s (BNetzA) tender in February 2024 means that the wind farm can also be expanded in a timely manner.
On 21 March 2024, the third and final wind turbine of the first phase of the Vockenrod wind farm was commissioned. At the same time, construction preparations for the expansion of the wind farm to the north can also begin following approval and successful completion of the BNetzA tender process. Construction of the two identical Nordex turbines is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of this year, with commissioning scheduled for spring 2026.
“Since 2013, the State of Hesse and VSB have formed a strong unit in the growth of renewable energy. In addition to the Fischbach, Trendelburg, Homberg and Ruhlkirchen projects in Middle Hesse, the Vockenrod wind farm is now another chapter in this success story,” says Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of VSB Germany, the company responsible for planning and construction. “We are also pleased that the relevant authorities have given the go-ahead for the expansion of Vockenrod,” adds Winkler.
“Renewable energy – especially wind energy– is THE decisive instrument for achieving the ambitious German and European climate targets. For this reason, the commissioning of the Vockenrod wind farm and its further expansion is an important milestone on this path that will serve as a role model,” adds Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group.
