Wind farm developer VSB is set to begin construction of two wind turbines with a total capacity of 11.2 megawatts (MW) this year in the northern Hessian municipality of Diemelsee. The turbines will be erected in the district of Wirmighausen and are scheduled to go into operation in 2027.

The repowering of the Elster wind farm, developed by the VSB Group, is entering its final phase: installation of the last of 16 new wind turbines is nearing completion. In parallel, the phased commissioning process is set to begin in the coming days. The first turbine, a Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-155, will soon feed sustainably generated electricity into the grid operated by Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH.

Wind farm developer VSB, with its regional office in Kassel, continues its success story in the Vogelsberg district. As the new operator of the Rülfenrod wind farm, which was commissioned in 2002, VSB is planning to repower the five existing turbines over the next four years. The company acquired the site from energy provider Statkraft.

Alterric and VSB Germany have received approval under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) for the Nentzelsrode repowering project. By replacing older turbines with modern ones, energy output will be nearly doubled while the number of wind turbines is reduced. The approval marks an important step in fully harnessing the wind energy potential in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia.
