The two photovoltaic power plants in Magdeburg and Hecklingen are connected to the grid and were officially opened on January 26, 2012.

In a ceremonial opening the WSB corporate group‘s two solar power plants in Magdeburg and Hecklingen were officially inaugurated on January 26, 2012. Under bright and sunny skies approximately 80 guests had come to visualize the completed photovoltaic plant on the former dump terrain at the Cracauer Anger.

Michael Dörffel, head of the Department for Climate Protection, Renewable Energy, Recycling Management and Technical Environmental Protection from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, as well as Holger Platz, Deputy Mayor for Municipality, Environment and General Administration from the capital city Magdeburg, appreciated the solar power plant as an important part of Magdeburg’s climate protection strategy. The trustful collaboration between all project participants has also been emphasized by Andreas Dorner, manager of WSB Neue Energien GmbH: “Thanks to the good co-operation we were able to successfully realise the solar park in a short time and thus create a descriptive example for the subsequent use of such a conversion area in connection with renewable energy”.

The Solar Park Magdeburg was built from August to December 2011. On an area of 14.5 hectare a total net power of 8.49 MWp is installed. With this, more than 10,000 people can be supplied with electricity. The plant was connected to the national 30kV grid. From October to December 2011 WSB has also realised the Solar Park Hecklingen which is located in Saxony-Anhalt, too. On two partial areas of totally about 8 hectare an overall net power of 3.2 MWp is installed, which can supply approximately 4,400 people. The grid connection took place in January 2012.
