Wind farm approved in Hessian Ufhausen: VSB plans construction start in 2026 – Invitation to information event on May 21, 2025

Project developer VSB has received another approval for the construction of a wind farm in Hesse. Three wind turbines are planned in Ufhausen, a district of the market town of Eiterfeld in the Fulda district. Construction start for the wind farm with a total rated output of 21.6 megawatts (MW) is expected to be in autumn 2026.
On a field north of the Ufhausen community, three Vestas V172 wind turbines with 7.2 MW each are to rotate from 2028. They were planned by the project developer for wind, photovoltaics, and battery storage VSB with a regional office in Kassel. The approval was issued by the Kassel Regional Council in March 2025. The construction project and subsequent operation of the wind farm will be accompanied by extensive compensation and mitigation measures, as well as a wind speed-based bird of prey shutdown. Additionally, the turbines will be shut down under certain conditions to protect bats, for example, during increased bat activity at certain times of the year and day.
Cordial invitation to the citizen information event
VSB invites all owners, residents, and interested parties to the community center in Ufhausen (Vor dem Tor 38, 36132 Eiterfeld) on May 21, 2025, to present the project: From 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, participants can inform themselves at various topic stands about the wind farm and the planning procedure and engage in conversation. The event will provide ample space for questions, moderated by KEEA (Climate and Energy Efficiency Agency). Ufhausen's Mayor Dana Hauke will also be a guest. Moreover, the market town of Eiterfeld, the Hesse State Energy Agency (LEA), and the Citizens' Forum Energy Transition Hesse (BFEH) will be represented as exhibitors.
Regional value creation secured
Wind energy creates jobs, ensures trade tax revenues, and allows wind park earnings to flow into the community, as suggested by the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). Specifically, this means: Depending on electricity yield, the financial participation ranges between 30,000 to 35,000 euros per year and per turbine, which will be distributed among the municipalities within a 2.5 km radius around the wind turbines, according to their proportional area.
"With the Ufhausen wind farm, we are not only making a concrete contribution to the energy transition but also creating scope for the municipal budget. We want to discuss this and many other points from the wind farm planning at the citizen information event on May 21. It is very important to us to involve people early on and provide transparent information about the project," says Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of VSB Germany.
Current construction projects of VSB in Hesse
VSB has been developing wind and photovoltaic parks throughout Germany and Europe since 1996 and has been rooted in Hesse for over 12 years. The company is currently expanding the Vockenrod wind farm in the Vogelsbergkreis and preparing the repowering of the Rülfenrod wind farm. Additionally, construction preparations for the Wirmighausen wind farm in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district will start this year.
