Project developer and operator VSB is focusing on further regionalisation as renewable energies go from strength to strength in Italy. To this end, VSB opened two new locations in 2022 alone, at short intervals: from now on, wind energy and photovoltaic projects will also be handled centrally from Bari and Parma. In each case, this includes both securing land and approval planning as well as planning and construction services.

VSB has been planning and developing wind energy and photovoltaic projects in Italy since 2011. The regional offices in Bari and Parma are ideal additions to the existing branches in Palermo, Potenza and Rome. Now that VSB’s presence extends almost all over Italy, it is much closer to the people and issues on the ground.

“Many years of experience, proven industry expertise, an ever-increasing market penetration as well as passion for leading the clean energy transition – with these characteristics, VSB is a strong and reliable partner and optimally positioned to actively accompany Italy on its path to climate neutrality and regional supply security,” says Giuseppe de Benedictis, Managing Director of VSB in Italy. “We warmly welcome the new highly motivated and expert teams in Bari and Parma to our VSB family. Together we will continue to drive change and speed up the expansion of wind and solar in Italy,” he adds.

There is certainly a lot of work to be done. In order to achieve the shared European climate targets, Italy is aiming to source 55 per cent of its gross final consumption of energy from renewable energies by 2030. This will see its total renewable energy capacity grow from 30 GW today to around 70 GW in 2030, with photovoltaics and wind farms set to play the most important role in the country’s energy mix in the future.
