Foundations completed – tower construction moves closer

 / 11.05.2026

Der Frühling hat Einzug gehalten auf dem Baufeld in Löberitz – und mit ihm ein handfester Meilenstein: alle drei Fundamente für die neuen Windenergieanlagen stehen.

rom the road, it is hard to imagine what has taken shape here over the past few weeks: three reinforced concrete foundations, each of which will support a wind turbine in future and thus contribute step by step to a future-proof energy supply.

Each foundation measures 25.5 metres in diameter and is around 2.50 metres deep, with 880 cubic metres of concrete in each one. From excavation to completion, each foundation takes around three weeks. Excavators, cranes and pumps are used in the process. The ground conditions did not cause us any problems – the soil here is very good. What slowed us down somewhat at the beginning was the persistent frost and snow early in the year. This led to significant delays in civil engineering works.

At peak times, up to 30 specialists are currently working on site. Regional partners are also involved: Ecosoil Ost is responsible for earthworks and infrastructure works, while DTZ Betonbau from Zahna-Elster is carrying out the foundations. The concrete comes from regional concrete plants, with transport handled by local companies.

While the final concreting works are underway, we have completed the structural construction of the substation in parallel. The next step is wiring the secondary systems – control, protection and metering technology. It may look unspectacular from the outside, but it is crucial to ensuring that the electricity can later be safely fed into the grid.

What comes next? The concrete towers. Ring by ring, each turbine will grow upwards – this will be much more visible on the construction site than the foundation works. At the same time, the dismantling of the five existing turbines is drawing closer. We will report back as soon as work begins.

Aerial view of the construction site: the circular foundation stands out clearly in the Löberitz field. The lattice boom crane is already in position – ready for the next stages of work.

Steel rings, mesh, anchor rods – everything is laid before the first cubic metre of concrete is poured. The concentric structure follows the load path that will later be created by the tower and rotor.

Two specialists are working in the centre, with the yellow crane boom running diagonally across the image. The long shadows show it clearly: bright midday sunshine on the construction site.

View of the freshly concreted foundation base – the foundation head will follow the next day.

A completed foundation from an aerial perspective. The anchor rods protrude precisely from the concrete slab – the first concrete ring of the tower will soon be placed on them.

Concreting complete, the crane has already moved on. The foundation sits in the excavation pit, with open ground still surrounding it.

Two truck mixers are ready, while the concrete pump feeds concrete into the formwork. In the foreground is one of the existing turbines, which will soon be dismantled as part of the repowering project.
