Almost Complete – Time to Celebrate: You're Invited to the Wind Farm Festival
/ 04.07.2025
The Elster repowering wind farm is heading into the final stretch: twelve of the sixteen new Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-155 turbines are already connected to the grid and supplying green electricity. The final four are close to commissioning and are set to go online by early August. A reason to celebrate – and we’d love for you to join us: on 15 August, we warmly invite you to our opening festival.
ork on site continues from morning until evening: while some teams are carrying out the final tasks for commissioning, others are dismantling the storage areas used for large components. Gravel is being removed and surfaces are being levelled so they can be re-greened with native seeds. Some areas will remain in use, as they’ll be needed in autumn for the second phase of the project – when two more turbines will be added to the wind farm.
Once all work is completed in August, the approximately two-year construction period of the first expansion stage will come to an end. Sixteen state-of-the-art turbines will then be in operation, generating around 235 gigawatt hours of clean electricity per year – roughly six times more than before. We want to celebrate this milestone with you.
On Friday, 15 August 2025, you are warmly invited to join us from 2:00 p.m. at the site near the wind turbine at Listerfehrdaer Graben in Zahna-Elster
Here's what you can look forward to:
- Live music by Elbaue Musikanten
- Regional food and drinks
- Children’s entertainment including a bouncy castle, lucky wheel, face painting, and football darts
- A chance to take a look inside a wind turbine
- Experts on site to answer your questions about technology, environmental protection, and the project’s development
Whether you’re curious to see the new turbines up close, want to learn more, or simply enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon – we look forward to welcoming you and celebrating together.
