ajor Components Being Installed on Final Turbine – First Commissioning Imminent

 / 15.04.2025

The final construction phase is under way at the Elster repowering wind farm: while major components are currently being installed on the last of the 16 new wind turbines, interior works on the other units are progressing rapidly. In the coming days, the first Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-155 turbine will be connected to the grid.

On 3 April, a major milestone was reached: the last heavy-duty transporter arrived on site between Listerfehrda and Gentha, delivering the final components for the 16 new turbines – including rotor blades, nacelles, steel tower segments and other key elements.

A look at the construction site shows clear progress: 15 of the 16 turbines have already been fully erected, and installation of major components on the final unit is now nearing completion. Interior works – such as the electrical systems – are well under way in the remaining turbines, with each unit being completed step by step.

To maintain steady progress, the construction teams are working in two shifts – from sunrise until late in the evening. Around 40 skilled workers are on site per shift.

All 16 wind turbines are expected to be commissioned in succession by summer 2025 – making a significant contribution to the region’s sustainable energy supply.

Most turbines are already equipped with their main components.

Early start on site: work is in full swing from sunrise.

A large crane lifts the nacelle into position. A vortex system on the tower provides additional stability during installation.

Preparations for installation: major components ready at each turbine location.
