Grupa Azoty interested in acquisition of 270 MWp Brzezinka PV power plant

VSB Group and Grupa Azoty S.A. have announced the start of exclusive negotiations. The purchase of 100 % of the share capital of Solarfarm Brzezinka sp. z o.o. is the stated intention of both sides. At the end of this strategic exchange, the photovoltaic power plant “Brzezinka” with a capacity of around 270 MWp will be part of the Grupa Azoty portfolio.

The Brzezinka project is among the largest and most important in the Polish PV market. This underlines the importance of VSB’s role in realizing the clean energy transition in Poland.

The PV project may be acquired by Grupa Azoty S.A. or its subsidiary once Grupa Azoty S.A. and the other parties to the agreement have agreed on the target business model and technical and economic parameters, and once the conditions precedent agreed upon during negotiations have been met. In the partnership exchange that will now follow, the focus is on the preparatory works, construction, connection to the grid, commissioning, and operation of the plant.

“It is a great opportunity for VSB to enter into yet another partnership with a company with Polish state participation. We started in 2011 with Tauron, and in our last 14 years in Poland we have worked with other partners involving the Polish state. The Brzezinka project is one of the largest PV projects in the country and we are confident that we will deliver on schedule. It is of mutual benefit that Grupa Azoty is pursuing its global renewables strategy with an experienced team of developers, headed by Mr Siemieniec and the VSB Polish team. We are eager to enter into this first step of the process,” says Frédéric Lanoë, CEO of the VSB Group, about the deal.

With this and many other projects, VSB supports Polish companies’ ambitious environmental goals: away from the coal stronghold of Europe towards clean electricity production. In the PV sector in particular, Poland is currently experiencing a real boom.
