[PR] VSB France commissions the 9.2 MWp photovoltaic park "Soleil de Balsac"
/ Nimes / 03.12.2024
The VSB Group proudly announces the commissioning of its photovoltaic park "Soleil de Balsac" in France. This project exemplifies the sustainable repurposing of former industrial sites for renewable energy production. It was planned and implemented by VSB France.
The photovoltaic park is located in the municipality of Druelle Balsac in the Aveyron department and has been constructed on a former extraction site for gravel, sand, clay, and kaolin. By repurposing this site, VSB France demonstrates how industrial wastelands can be transformed into forward-looking projects.
With a total capacity of 9.2 MWp and 16,740 installed solar panels, “Soleil de Balsac” will generate approximately 10,550 MWh of electricity annually – enough to power around 5,000 households. Notably, the originally planned capacity of 5 MWp was doubled during project development without increasing the area used. This efficiency gain was achieved through technological advancements and optimised land use.
Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group, highlights the significance of the project: “With ‘Soleil de Balsac’, VSB impressively demonstrates how innovative technologies and sustainable approaches transform even challenging sites into key contributors to the energy transition. This project symbolises our ambitions and commitment to a greener future.”
“‘Soleil de Balsac’ is an outstanding example of our expertise,” states Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France. “We revitalised a derelict site and contributed to the energy transition. Moreover, by doubling the capacity during development, we demonstrated our agility while maintaining minimal environmental impact.”
