Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France, and Dominique Ondet, Mayor of Saint-Sulpice, officially inaugurated the Bosjean Wind Farm on Friday, 3 July. The wind farm is located in the municipality of Saint-Sulpice, in the Puy-de-Dôme department of central France.
The Bosjean Wind Farm comprises six Vestas V110 wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 12.8 MW. Annual production is estimated at 24 GWh, equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of more than 12,000 residents, while avoiding 7,800 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. With this new wind farm, VSB France now operates two wind farms in the Puy-de-Dôme department, generating a combined total of 102 GWh and avoiding 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
During the construction phase, VSB France made a point of contracting with local and regional companies, working in particular with TP Lyaudet for earthworks, OT Engineering for civil engineering, and Cégelec for the electrical network package. CIC Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIC CIB) supported VSB in financing the project. The Bosjean Wind Farm is also equipped with a next-generation, patented 3D Bird Detection System (BDS) supplied by BIOSECO, VSB France’s European technology partner.
VSB France developed and built the Bosjean Wind Farm and is responsible for its ongoing technical and administrative management.
“I am delighted to inaugurate this new wind farm, which further strengthens our presence in the Puy-de-Dôme department,” said Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France. “With the Bosjean Wind Farm, we now operate two wind farms in the department, generating no less than 102 GWh of renewable electricity each year. This is a great example of how local communities can actively contribute to the energy transition while creating a more sustainable future for generations to come.”
“What makes Bosjean particularly special to me is the way we have worked together: with local companies, the municipality and financing partners on site. This is exactly how we understand project development at VSB – as a project that generates renewable energy while also keeping value creation in the region. For VSB, this is part of our commitment as a responsible project developer,” says Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group.
