[PR] VSB France: Strong Business Year in 2024; 100 MW Under Construction
/ Dresden/Nimes / 30.01.2025
VSB France, the French subsidiary of the VSB Group, reports a highly successful year in 2024. With an impressive portfolio of around 2 GW in renewable energy projects, the company is entering 2025 with determination and clear objectives. The focus remains on the development of wind energy, ground-mounted solar PV, agrivoltaics, and energy marketing.
In 2024, VSB France commissioned three wind farms and one photovoltaic plant. Together, these projects represent a combined capacity of 50 MW, equivalent to avoiding around 29,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and supplying green electricity to approximately 46,000 people.
Construction activities reached a record level of over 100 MW. This included the start of construction for two wind farms in the Puy-de-Dôme department. One of two wind farms with its 15 turbines, is the company’s largest project to date. Together, the two projects have a total capacity of 46 MW and are currently in the groundwork and civil engineering phase.
VSB France also achieved great success in the national renewable energy tenders. In March, the company was awarded 33 MW for a wind farm. In November, a further 67 MW was awarded across three wind farms, including a repowering project.
The year 2025 will focus on further advancing wind energy, ground-mounted solar PV, and agrivoltaics, as well as exploring new energy marketing models. Agrivoltaics will play a particularly central role, with the aim of developing projects with a capacity exceeding 5 MWp that combine agricultural use with green electricity production. In energy marketing, VSB aims to build on the success of its first two CPPAs with a hydrogen producer and a retail company, expanding such partnerships for both existing and new assets. The company currently manages a portfolio of around 600 MW of renewable energies, serving both its own plants and external customers.
In parallel with its business growth, VSB France expanded its headquarters in Nîmes last year, relocating to the city centre. The Reims office also moved to new premises. The company was once again certified as a “Great Place to Work” and successfully renewed its ISO and AQPV certifications.
At the end of 2024, the full acquisition of the VSB Group by TotalEnergies was agreed, with the shares previously held by Partners Group and the founder of VSB.
“2024 was a dynamic year with significant project completions and successful developments,” said Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France. “Our mission remains clear: to actively drive the energy transition forward while adopting a respectful and dialogue-oriented approach.”
Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group, added: “The demand for renewable energy is growing rapidly in France. At VSB, we have the expertise and vision not only to meet this demand but also to set new standards for sustainable energy generation.”
