Tower construction begins – work also taking place in the evening hours

 / 06.07.2026

Visible progress is being made on the construction site in Löberitz: the foundations are in place, the first tower sections have arrived – and the construction of the three new wind turbines is now beginning. As the installation work is highly weather-dependent, work may also take place in the evening hours over the coming weeks.

Now that the foundations have been completed, tower construction is moving into focus. At the same time, the five existing turbines are being dismantled and the construction areas are being prepared for the next stages of work. Construction of the cable route for the wind farm’s grid connection also began in June.

The new Vestas V172-7.2 turbines use what is known as a hybrid tower: it consists of a mix of concrete and tubular steel tower sections. The lower section, measuring around 105 metres, is built from prefabricated, high-strength concrete rings. This is followed by the upper tower section made of steel profiles. Ring by ring, the turbines are now growing upwards – to a hub height of 175 metres. This is where the nacelle and rotor will later be installed.

Important information for all local residents: due to the significant working height, the installation of the concrete towers is highly dependent on weather and wind conditions. In order to bundle the works as efficiently as possible and complete them by the end of September at the latest, a two-shift operation is required for the concrete tower construction. Work may therefore take place daily between 07:00 and 22:00.

We kindly ask for your understanding and apologise for any construction noise during this period. The work processes are being planned in such a way that the works can be carried out as efficiently as possible and disruption kept to a minimum. In parallel, the dismantling of the existing turbines is also continuing. Some of the dismantled components can be reused – for example as a source of spare parts or for deployment at other sites.

The next major step will now be the towers growing upwards. And another component of the hybrid park will follow in August: construction of the PV plant is scheduled to begin then. The construction period is expected to take around seven months; preparatory works are already under way. We will continue to keep you updated here.

The existing turbines are being dismantled from top to bottom.

A tower segment from one of the existing turbines is already suspended from the crane. With components of this size, every movement has to be spot on before they can be safely lowered to the ground.

The turbine is still standing – but dismantling is already well under way. The crane is in position to safely remove the next components.

The dismantled tower segments of the existing turbines are ready for transport.

What previously generated electricity high above the ground is now neatly arranged on the dismantling area: rotor blades, tower segments and other components are being prepared for transport.

The existing turbines are being dismantled step by step. Some of the dismantled components can be reused – for example as a source of spare parts or for deployment at other sites.

Before the tower sections can be installed, the construction areas need to be prepared.

During dismantling, the turbine components are separated, secured and prepared for transport. Where technically possible, components are put to further use.

The excavation pit around the new foundation is being backfilled. This creates the working area for the next installation steps.

The five existing Vestas V52 turbines are being dismantled step by step. They will be replaced by three modern Vestas V172-7.2 turbines with significantly higher output and around ten times the expected annual energy yield.
