Finally, it starts: Official ground-breaking ceremony

Ceremonial launch of pioneering European project in the heart of Saxony-Anhalt

Sunshine and a mild breeze: The weather could not have been better for the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Elster repowering wind farm. After the opening and ceremonial speeches, the symbolic groundbreaking took place at the site of one of the new wind turbines.

Together for a green future: prominent figures from business and politics 
We were particularly pleased that, in addition to the mayors of the municipalities of Zahna-Elster and Jessen, representatives of the project partners Max Bögl and Siemens Gamesa, as well as District Administrator Christian Tylsch, Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, also accompanied this milestone.

In addition to numerous national media such as ZEIT, Stern and SUPER illu, MDR and Mitteldeutsche Zeitung also reported on the groundbreaking ceremony. All in all, it was a very successful start for this beacon project of the energy transition.

And so it continues
Construction work at the site of the repowering wind farm will now begin with the excavation of the building pits, followed by the erection of the foundations by the hybrid tower builder Max Bögl, probably next summer.
