Concrete towers are rising

On the construction site in Löberitz, it is now clearly visible how the new wind turbines are taking shape: two concrete towers are already standing, and preparations are under way for the third turbine. At the same time, important work is progressing on cable routes and the grid connection – and the start of construction for the photovoltaic plant is also drawing closer.

Visible progress continues at the Hybrid Park Löberitz. The concrete towers for the three new wind turbines have been under construction since July. Two towers have already been completed, and preparations for the next steps are under way at the third turbine.

Ring by ring, the tower grows
The turbines use what are known as concrete hybrid towers. This means that the lower part of the tower consists of precast concrete elements, while the upper part will later be made of tubular steel sections. The concrete section reaches a height of around 103 metres. To build it, the individual precast concrete elements are first assembled on the ground into rings, each around 2.80 metres high, and tensioned. They are then placed on top of one another step by step using a crane – allowing the tower to grow ring by ring.

Cable route for the grid connection
Work on the concrete tower segments is expected to continue until September. In parallel, construction of the cable route from the wind farm to the Salzfurtkapelle substation began in July. This work will continue until August and is an important step in ensuring that the electricity generated in future can be safely fed into the grid.

Start of construction for the photovoltaic plant draws closer
Progress is also being made on the photovoltaic side: according to the current schedule, construction of the PV plant is expected to begin in early September. This will start with setting up the construction site, as well as fencing and road construction. The cable route between the PV plant and the substation is also scheduled to start in September. Delivery of the main components – modules, substructure and inverters – is planned for October and November. The generator is scheduled for completion by the end of December, with the transformers expected to be delivered in January.

Next steps: steel tower sections, nacelles and rotor blades
Further clearly visible steps will follow in the coming months: from October, the steel tower sections, nacelles and rotor blades will be installed. Large cranes with a total height of around 200 metres will be used for this work. This will be followed by interior fit-out and electrical installation for connection to the public grid.

Heavy-load transports from mid-September
A note in advance: the delivery of the large main components – in particular the rotor blades – will take place by heavy-load transport, expected to be in the evening and night-time hours between mid-September and the end of September. During this period, there may be occasional minor traffic restrictions. We ask for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
