We are working on the foundations

 / 11.10.2023

From July to September, we saw impressive progress, from the installation of what is probably the highest anchor cages in the world to the completion of the turbine foundations. In parallel, intensive work continued on the GPO station, from the installation of cables to the delivery and installation of the transformer. A summer full of milestones and technical achievements!

JULY
We installed probably the world's tallest anchor cages at an impressive height of 9.5 meters. Their structure has been reinforced with additional stabilizing elements. Installation of the reinforcement for the 16.10 meters diameter turbine foundation has also begun. At the GPO station, lean concrete has been poured for the station building and transformer sump. Fiber optic cables are being blown in and medium voltage [MV] cables are being pulled into the previously constructed cable ducts and culverts.

AUGUST
The whole month was spent laying reinforcement and concreting the foundations for the turbines. At the end of August we started reinforcing and concreting our unique plinths and the first turbine foundations were fully concreted. At the GPO substation, the foundations for the substation building and the foundations for the transformer and high voltage equipment were constructed.

SEPTEMBER
Concreting of the foundations continued. On the last day of September we reached the milestone of 'completion of the foundations'. The day before, the 45MVA 115/33kV transformer arrived at the GPO station. Despite its weight of 45 tones, it was unloaded without the use of a crane.  Throughout the month, the GPO station building was slowly constructed in the shadow of the other work. Of course, there was also a lot of cable work going on.
