In Jeßnitz, part of the City of Raguhn-Jeßnitz in Saxony-Anhalt, five modern wind turbines have been in operation since summer 2006 – very close to the historic Thurland windmill. The windfarm, consisting of Enercon E-70 turbines with an installed capacity of 2 MW each, generate green energy that equals the annual consumption of about 7,000 households. It thereby helps to avoid about 16,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
