Melfi wind farm in Basilicata, Italy

The Basilicata region is one of Italy's less economically developed and more thinly populated areas. With an eye to the future, the local community had therefore always had a positive attitude towards the wind farm project right from the beginning. The systems were installed on a cropland site of around 20 hectares. The local farmers continue their cultivation as before and are thus able to draw two incomes from their land.

The wind farm was opened at the end of 2015 after a construction period of one year. It is now supplying around 10,300 households with green electricity.
