Wind energy in working forests is particularly challenging when it comes to environmental protection and requires a constant dialogue with owners and forestry authorities. Due to the complexity of its planning and construction, Ruhlkirchen windfarm is a showcase for a successful cooperation with all stakeholders. Also, the region’s hilly ground proved difficult: To deliver a blade with a length of about 60 metres, the terrain had to be analysed in advance. As a result, all components could smoothly be transported along the winding and undulating road and through the narrow historic inner city of Alsfeld.
