Corporate responsibility
For VSB, sustainability is associated with economic, ecological and social responsibility. With the regional expansion of renewable energies, we support the own electricity generation in rural areas and contribute to regional value creation. We support local clubs, educational projects and associations.
VSB corporate woodland
Since 2016, the VSB has been supporting the afforestation of forest areas in Saxony in cooperation with PrimaKlima e.V. and the Forest for Saxony Foundation.
In the same year, the first VSB corporate forest was created in the region. The 1,000 newly planted trees contribute to save the climate by bounding two tons of CO2 annually.
2017, VSB supported a project in Lower Saxony, in the East Frisian district Leer. Up to 2,000 pupils from seven different schools help planting 1,000 deciduous trees and bushes for VSB. The woodland will be part of an interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generations of students. For instance, they will learn to calculate the plant growth in mathematics and physics, or will study the different storeys of the forest in biology later on. The woodland has a unique biodiversity: Besides maple, beech, oak, alder, birch, chestnut and lime, bushes at the edge of the forest especially increase the diversity of species.
Another afforestation project followed in spring 2019 near the Saxon town Mittweida, district Tanneberg. On an area of 2000 square meters, a new deciduous forest with native tree and shrub species was created. In 2020 and 2021, the VSB Group also participates in tree planting campaigns in Biehla and at the Klingenberg Dam, 30 kilometers from company’s headquarter in Dresden. The forest area of the dam has been severely damaged by the infestation of the bark beetle. With the newly planted tree seedlings of native species, we want to strengthen the ecological balance and invest sustainably in the future.
In April 2022 VSB planted more than 1000 trees with the partner "Stiftung Wald für Sachsen" in Pirna-Pratzschwitz.
„The forest in Theauderfehn develops magnificently. Where earlier had been a meadow for horses, a spices-rich ecosystem arises now. Many school from the neighborhood participated at the planting and the children stroked the soil between the roots carefully and lovingly. The grow-on rate of nearly 100% is convincing. The accompanying vegetation is part of the biological diversity, first flowers and bushes flourish. In a few years the children will be able to play hide-and-seek behind the trees. “

VSB – active in association work
The professionalism and quality of our range of services is enriched by our membership in industry societies and associations. Our employees maintain extensive professional connections at the national and regional level. Working with associations gives us the opportunity to recognise current trends and topics early on and to actively contribute our competences. Furthermore, such institutions are an important link to the public and represent our interests with politics, governmental departments and authorities. This is why we are actively involved in energy and climate lobby associations at home and abroad.
Jointly for the future…
VSB established the foundation “Protect the future – new energy for the future “Zukunft schützen – Neue Energien für die Zukunft“, which is committed to child and youth projects that involve renewable energy. The foundation is open for project applications from other non-profit institutions and organisations that can teach young people about energy, conservation of natural resources and energy saving in a playful manner. Furthermore, we regularly donate to eligible projects at both our headquarters location in Dresden and also beyond.

Of course, we obtain green electricity at all German company locations and gradually our international subsidiaries switch to it. We also seek climate-friendly assistance when it comes to mobility. All vehicles have low consumption values in order to use as few resources as possible.
We print our print products exclusively on FSC-certified paper because the sustainable use of the natural resources of this world is extremely important to us. Responsible forestry is particularly important. Because wood is not only a valuable raw material, it is also of outstanding importance for the earth's ecosystem. With an FSC certification, we can ensure that this natural product is produced taking ecological and sustainable aspects into account.
In addition, we only print on paper, which consists of 100% wastepaper. In this way, we are not only contributing by to reducing waste quantities, but also actively diminish reduce the demand for forestry products.

Because the use of the internet results in CO₂ emissions, which arise primarily from the power consumption by servers, data transmission and the end devices of the users. Based on the information on the monthly page views on our website, our partner ClimatePartner determines the CO₂ emissions caused and compensates them 100% via current climate protection projects.

Events full of energy
VSB employees love not only intellectual, but also physical activities. The athletic events at our headquarters in Dresden are always well attended. Whether it is participation in corporate running and cycling events or the corporate beach volleyball cup, we are pleased about the energy of our teams.
